Long-term Sustainability Ambitions

At Carter Industrial Company, a leading GRS-certified synthetic leather manufacturer, we are dedicated to long-term sustainability and minimizing our environmental impact. Our commitment extends across the entire value chain, from product design and manufacturing to distribution, product use, and disposal. We recognize the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, and water and energy consumption at our facilities to protect the environment and create a more sustainable future.

To achieve our sustainability ambitions, we understand the need for collaboration and shared goals with our key suppliers. By working together, we can effectively reduce the environmental footprint of our products and drive meaningful change throughout the industry.

Science Based Targets Initiative and Net-zero Targets

Carter Industrial Company is aligning its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets with the Science Based Targets initiative and the Paris Climate Agreement. Our targets cover Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to emission reduction. Starting in 2021, we will engage our strategic suppliers to collect annual greenhouse gas emission data, enabling us to address and reduce our Scope 3 emissions.

Our long-term commitments towards Science Based Targets Initiatives are as follows:

Scope 1:

• Achieve a 46% absolute reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from our production sites compared to the base year of 2019.

Scope 2:

• Transition to 80% renewable electricity at our own manufacturing sites and offices.

Scope 3:

• Achieve an absolute reduction of 28% in greenhouse gas emissions related to purchased materials and upstream and downstream logistics compared to the base year of 2019.

These commitments will be further broken down into measurable goals that will be continuously updated and reported on.

Net-zero Targets

In addition to our 2030 commitments, Carter Industrial Company is seeking approval from the Science Based Targets initiative for our Net-zero targets. By 2050, we aim to reduce our overall emissions by at least 80% and offset any residual emissions that cannot be eliminated.

Additional Focus Areas

Beyond our environmental sustainability targets, we have set long-term goals in other areas as well. These include:

• Water Consumption: Implement measures to reduce water consumption in our own facilities and throughout our supply chain.
• Recycling Rates: Increase targeted recycling rates to minimize waste generation and promote a circular economy.
• Prohibited and Restricted Substances: Ensure the use of safe and environmentally friendly substances in our products, complying with regulations and industry standards.
• Health and Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and suppliers.
• CSR Audits: Conduct regular audits to assess the social and environmental practices of our suppliers.
• Social Targets: Promote gender equality, equal opportunities in the workplace, combat human trafficking, corruption, and uphold fair business ethics.
• Human Rights: Support human rights initiatives and contribute to the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
• Community Engagement: Strive to improve conditions not only for our employees but also for our suppliers and the communities they are close to.
